AICTE Approved National Seminar on "Sustainable Development" Organized at RIMT - IMCT

RIMT-Institute of Management and Computer Technology organised a three-day AICTE approved seminar on ‘Sustainable Development’ at its campus. The seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Jagesh Khaitan, Vice President and MD, Amrit Banaspati Company, Rajpura. Welcoming the eminent experts and delegates of the seminar, the chairman of the RIMT Group of institutes Hukam Chand Bansal called upon the society and particularly the budding managers to be vigilant and do their best to check environmental degradation. In his presidential address the noted water management expert, Dr. Rajinder Singh who was awarded Magsaysay Award in 2001 stressed on revival of the indigenously developed development models to suit the local needs. He called for community driven efforts for sustainable development. He shared his experience of building 6800 water harvesting structures thoughh his NGO ‘Tarun Bharat Sangh’.
The three-day national seminar on “sustainable development” concluded at RIMT-IMCT campus. In the valedictory session, Dr. R.C. Sobti, the vice-chancellor, Punjab University, Chandigarh was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sobti lambasted the undiscriminated and overexploitation of natural resources. He called upon the society to take the recourse of India’s traditional value system to provide safegaurd to the ongoing environmental degradation. He also stressed the need for increasing awareness particularly among the people who are away from the nature about the perilious effects of environmental degradation.
